Material Handler

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
·         Able to work cooperatively in a team and cross functional team(s) as needed.
·         Able to maintain a level temperament in a stressful environment.

·         Competent in required job knowledge and skills to perform assigned tasks.
·         Able to apply new work requirements with minimal supervision.
·         Maintain a positive attitude and help drive continuous improvement through team involvement.
·         Reviews tactical production schedules, seeks direction when needed to on how to support the goals for the day to day operations by understanding and taking direction team leads or other leadership individuals.
·         Performs a variety of duties in multiple different material handling tasks and willing to operate equipment as defined in the work instructions or training parameters.
·         Capable of validating customer data sheets against a purchase orders or the pick sheets. Items are validated by - part number, part revision, size and shape, form/fit/function of material, and bill of material.
·         Performs basic automated and manual equipment set-up functions which may include the loading of jigs, fixtures, and software.
·         Ensure that equipment that is used are in a good working condition and that any required inspection is completed before use (EX: forklift Standup and Sit-down)
·          Is up-to-date on all certifications and training requirements for role.
·          Consistently completes assignments or work requirements on time without compromising on quality.
·         Uses time effectively to manage workload/tasks. Individual throughput goals are met.
·         Understands and follows company quality policy guidelines, customer specifications and adheres to regulatory compliance.
·          Monitors own work to ensure quality standard is met.
·          Looks for opportunities to improve quality and eliminate waste at work.
·          Delivers work in way that eliminates scrap or rework.
·          Keeps the leadership team informed and escalates issues when needed.  
 
Safety:
·         Always wear personal protection equipment (PPE)
·         Proper safety eyewear
·         Proper steel-toed shoes
·         Report all safety concerns and/or accidents to the supervisor, first aid representative immediately no matter how minor.
·         Inspect the work area at the start of your shift and during your shift to see that required safety equipment is in place and operational.
·         Maintain a safe, productive, and team orientated work environment
·         Understand and follow the Safety rules, policies and procedures that have been defined for the area and equipment.
·         Understand and follow the proper procedure for handling any chemicals in the area and hazardous materials.  
 
Additional Accountabilities:
·         Become trained to the area’s critical business needs and function without direct or supervisory oversight.
·         Stay current on processes, procedures, standards, policies and training for assigned job and operational area.
·         Minimal travel may be required to meet the needs of the business (less than 1% of the time).
·         Additional duties as assigned.        
 
Education/Experience Qualifications:
·         A minimum of a High School diploma or is required.
·         Less than One (1) year of related experience is required; One (1) or more years of related experience is preferred.
·         Must be 18 years of age or older.
·         An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key job accountabilities may be considered.
 
Other Qualifications:  
·         Basic computer skills required
·         Strong attention to detail
·         Self-motivated
·         Ability to interpret, receive direction and apply both written and oral communication
·         Flexible to quickly adapt to learning new tasks, moving to new areas to meet changing customer demands ·         Flexible to work in multiple areas as required
·         Demonstrated competencies in:  teamwork, professional demeanor, quality, job knowledge, communication, problem solving and lean principles, flexibility, attendance and timeliness
·         General office equipment and materials
·         Material Handling Equipment including but not limited to forklifts, pallet jacks, bar code scanners, etc.
·         Able to alternate or be able to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time ·         Able to lift, reach, push, pull up to 45 pounds as required
·         Able and willing to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment as required for assigned area  
 
Work Environment: 
·         The work setting should consist of a manufacturing warehouse environment with suitable lighting, temperatures are dependent on outside conditions, and a moderate noise level.
