Casting and Pouring Technician

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
·         Daily - Follows Company established processes for centrifical casting of Babbitt on a variety of backing materials.  Performs setup and production run.
·         Daily - Follows Company established processes for flat pouring of Babbitt on a variety of backing materials.  Performs setup and production run
·         Performs preheating and degassing of material
·         Maintains tin and Babbitt inventory levels and documentation
·         Follow all safety instructions and procedures. Complies with all safety requirements for pouring and casting of liquid metals.  Wears all PPE required to perform the job in the safest manner possible.
·         Cleans babbitted components before moving them to the next operation
·         Builds, prepares and installs instrumentation wires in bearing components
·         Performs Babbitt repairs and patching as required.  Uses open flame torches and TIG welders
·         Contributes in continuous improvement with department objectives.
·         Completes special projects and other duties as assigned.
·         Position will require the ability to work overtime, weekends and holidays, as needed, as well as regular attendance during normal shift.    
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.  
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.  
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.  
Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to use hands to grasp, hold, or handle items; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl up to 2/3 of the time, as well as the ability to stand; walk; and reach with arms and hands, over 2/3 of the time. The position also requires the ability to sit, talk or hear, and smell or taste under 1/3 of the time.
Lifting:  This position requires lifting up to 10 pounds under 2/3 of the time, and lifting up to 50 pounds up to 1/3 of the time.
