Shipping Associate

Essential Duties and Responsibilities  The following list of essential duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.  
 Picks orders from stockroom or staging area. 
 Pulls materials from storage and delivers to machines and orders as needed. 
 Puts parts with completed machinery for shipment.
 Uses air nail gun and Radial Arm Saw to build wooden skids.
 Secures machines, shuttles, parts, and track to wooden skids.
 Loads and unloads trucks.
 Details machinery.
 Uses powered industrial truck (forklift) and other material moving machinery.
 Keeps assigned work area clean, orderly, and safe.
 Adheres to all safety rules outlined in the safety manual and employee handbook.
 Performs other related duties as required and assigned.   
 
Skills   The Shipping Laborer must have considerable knowledge of principles and practices in the following areas:  
1. Ability to work well with coworkers
2. Effective oral and written communication skills
3. Demonstrated knowledge of shipping practices
4. Ability to read and understand warehouse paperwork    
 
Education and Work Experience   
1. High School Diploma or GED
2. Any similar combination of education and experience  
 
Physical Demands   The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the Shipping Laborer to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this position.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.  
 
While performing the essential duties and responsibilities of this position, the Shipping Laborer must frequently lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to seventy-five (75) pounds.  The Shipping Laborer must occasionally lift up to seventy-five (75) pounds from the floor to 36 inches high.  The Shipping Laborer is constantly required stand/walk, use both hands and legs, and have the ability to speak/hear.  The Shipping Laborer is frequently required to reach high/low.  The Shipping Laborer is occasionally required to sit, push/pull, balance, stoop, kneel, climb stationary and rolling stairs, perform repeated bending, and perform repetitive finger movement and twisting with wrists or hands.  Visual acuity is also required to operate overhead cranes and powered industrial trucks (forklifts).
